random.

  • Less than 100 days til the wedding. We are in double digits people!
  • I have been living here in CHI for 1 year now! Crazy! This also means I have almost been at my job for a year too.
  • I actually got up and got all my errands done before noon today. Pretty good considering its a dark and rainy day that makes me just want to stay in bed.
  • Next month I will be in sunny Florida with the 7 girls that have just 3 more months to put up with me!
  • Followed by a visit from one of my good college friends. I cannot wait to see her!
  • My fiance and I are finally living in the same state.
  • The missing bridesmaid dress has been found. I have been searching for a dress I wore in a wedding last summer so I can wear it to one of the million weddings I have this summer. It has been recovered after several months!
  • Kel and I have been using Netflix since he came back. Its a pretty good deal and all you have to do is put the dvd in the mail when you're done. One of the better inventions.

moms

Happy Mother's Day! Sadly, I won't see my mom. It's tough working and being grown up....

lately.

Here's what's been going on lately.....
  • spring/summer weather in chicago... love it!
  • i just worked my last saturday! until september....
  • rsvps. we have gotten so many back already! its great!
  • my solitary life is no longer. kel comes back to chicago tomorrow for good.
  • cleaning. i have been on a major cleaning spree lately. including getting rid of 3 bags of clothes for charity.
  • 3 mo til the wedding. its beginning to hit me.
  • crazy summer. kel and i will be attending 7 of the 9 weddings we were invited to this summer (not including our own). not to mention all the other events related to our own wedding that we will be attending. along with the high school graduation of my baby brother.
  • working. what a boring adult life

ok...

we have officially crossed the line. i really wish i was joking about this.

success

today was a good day. and some of you know its been a really long time since i have said that. to be honest, this week went pretty smoothly. i have been feeling good and staying positive in general. to begin today i woke up early, and was ok with it. again, for those of you that know me, you know that waking up early is usually not a good thing for me. watched my talk shows, the sun was shining and i had my balcony door open all day. over 80 degrees! how can that not make you happy?

got all my errands done before 11 am. wedding invites are out and i dealt with some very pleasant people at the post office today.maybe its because i was in such a good mood but ever since i moved here i don't think i've come across so many people that smiled at me.. but again, back to my statement about how 80 degree weather can affect people's attitudes.

decided to venture to the mall and to my surprise it wasn't busy. could be because it was too nice to be inside or that it was 11 am on a friday, either way, it was nice to park near the door. i enjoyed my few hours at the mall with no rush and got some good deals.

headed back home for some left over take out for lunch and then for a walk to take in all of the sunshine, every last bit. dinner with one of my favorite people followed by sad movie nite, marley and me and seven pounds. these choices were secondary to notorious. yup, we really wanted to see it and at the request of my fiance, we were to see it at a time when he was not around. apparently several people in chicagoland wanted to see it as well. good day, people, good day. hoping for the same tomorrow.

as i was leaving the post office, one of the workers noticed i was mailing wedding invites and asked if she could see my ring. i handed over my hand, she complimented my jewelry, and said, " my advice to you is just be happy. i wish you and your fiance happiness. and trust me, its much easier to be happier than unhappy. just remember that"

and that added to my good day.

check.

checked some things off our wedding to do list this past weekend:

  • food tasting. one of the more fun things we have done during this planning process, although steak at 11 am is a little bit filling.

  • hair trial. i got the opportunity to see what my hair will look like (almost) on our big day, veil, comb and all! what i love most is the most gorgeous veil ever and you can't even buy it in stores. thanks gram!

  • invitations. we decided to brave the storm and do our own invites instead of having them printed up professionally. they look great! with the help of my fiance and dad we got them done is about 5 1/2 hours and for half the cost.

  • coffee with a good friend. ok, its not wedding related, but we did talk wedding since we are both brides this year!

  • family time. i really love this part of going home but there is NEVER enough time. we do try our best to at least spend some time with everyone.

on a side note, i have now developed allergies. i officially have gotten every common illness this year. thats it, im buying a bubble!

current things that give me headaches

not to be negative but i look at it more as therapy haha.... here is what bugs me right now:

  • laziness. in all aspects. and no, you admitting to be lazy does not make it any better.
  • slow drivers. today was a gorgeous day, sun was shining and it was NOT snowing... so at least drive the speed limit.. the roads are fine, trust me.
  • my loud neighbor. loudest.person. ever. hands down.
  • cigarette smoke. also refer to my loud neighbor. his habit is causing a stench in my apt.
  • long drives alone. i love going home to MI but i hate making the drive alone.
  • immaturity. don't pretend to be grown up. acutally be grown up. this includes having an adult relationship with your parents, not having them treat you just as they did when you were little. be independent.
  • "those days" at work. self explanatory.
  • waking up early. i just love sleep.
  • waiting. im very impatient and anxious about everything.

pic pick

Love this. Thanks PostSecret. Try to look at this and not smile.

how about a little encouragement?

"And let us consider how to stimulate to love and good deeds" hebrews 10:24

"You can sometimes catch a terrible chill waiting for someone else to cover you with glory"

It's safe to say we all need encouragement and over the past year I have found that I need it more than I ever thought. But why? Is it not enough to be confident?

do you find that you encourage or praise your family/partner/friends/co workers?

how about that person you know wants to be praised and celebrated but you can't bring yourself to do it?

why is it so difficult?
